According to the British "Daily Mail" report, from April 2024, e-cigarettes and individual cigarettes will be printed with images and cancer warnings.
Under the newly passed federal law, e-cigarettes and cigarettes will be labeled "toxic and addictive," "poisonous with every puff," "causes 16 types of cancer" and "how much will this cost you?" next to it through April 2024. Images of mouth and throat cancer. Cigarette packages will also have inserts promoting the benefits of quitting smoking, as well as hotline information to help smokers quit smoking.
Health Minister Mark Butler said the new measures were necessary because smokers had become increasingly desensitized to warnings and images printed on cigarette packs since 2011.
Butler said: "The most worrying thing over the past 10 years, and the advice the government has received, is that smoking rates, which have been falling steadily over the past 50 years or so, are now starting to level off." He added: " We are currently not on track to achieve the targets set out in the National Tobacco Strategy."
From 1 April 2024, tobacco and nicotine products will have 12 months to comply with the new requirements, and retailers will have three months to ensure their stocks are up to date.
It is reported that the new law will also ban the import of non-therapeutic and disposable disposable e-cigarettes in early 2024.
