According to Infobae’s report on December 29, in order to effectively promote smoke-free spaces and anti-smoking policies, the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Region of Cantabria in Spain stated that “clear” and “mandatory” legislative measures are needed to ensure the anti-smoking effect. The Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Region of Cantabria has particularly emphasized that new forms of consumption, such as products including e-cigarette devices, should be restricted in their marketing and use.
The Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Region of Cantabria noted that the use of e-cigarettes by minors is increasing at a worrying rate. "Some countries, such as France, are banning or will soon ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes. Controlling the consumption of these products is crucial for tobacco control."
The Cantabrian Ministry of Health's Detoxification Service said that as new tobacco products continue to emerge, the industry is always one step ahead of regulatory measures, making adequate control of new tobacco products a challenge.
"Relying solely on voluntary policies to achieve a smoke-free environment is ineffective and does not provide adequate protection. For this, effective, clear and mandatory legislation is needed." said the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Region of Cantabria in Spain.
