A spokesman for the European Commission said recently that they were still reviewing their policy on snus. Currently, snus is banned in the EU.
The spokesman said: "We are currently evaluating the entire tobacco control policy, and policies on tobacco products such as snus will be decided based on the results of the evaluation." The relevant person in charge of the Swedish Snus Manufacturers Association believes that the European Commission lacks understanding of snus.
