Report shows Türkiye has the highest number of smokers per capita in the world

Turkey's Daily Hurriyet quoted a report from Eurostat as saying that Turkey's per capita cigarette consumption ranks first in the world, with smokers smoking an average of 17.1 cigarettes a day.

Other countries with higher per capita cigarette consumption include Greece, with 15.7 cigarettes, followed by Israel and Japan, both with 15.5 cigarettes, and Austria with 15.4 cigarettes.
