The National Tobacco Administration (NTA) of the Philippines recently allocated approximately 17 million Philippine pesos (1 Philippine peso is approximately RMB 0.13) to subsidize tobacco farmers in remote areas.
The subsidy project aims to help Filipino tobacco farmers cultivating 0.5 hectares and less of land to reduce production costs. The funds will be used to pay for fertilizers, sprout inhibitors, fuel and labor. The Philippine National Tobacco Bureau also provides farmers with guidance on rice production, beef cattle breeding and other aspects.
