New Zealand media nzherald reported on January 10 that New Zealand’s consumption data shows that industries such as swimming pools, live theaters, ticketing agencies, e-cigarette shops and duty-free shops have become the highlights of New Zealand’s consumption.
Data released by Worldline shows that December last year set a record for retail spending, and overall New Zealand retail spending in 2023 will reach 36.8 billion New Zealand dollars (approximately US$25.4 billion), an increase of 3.8% from last year. The average transaction value in 2023 was NZ$51.10, down 1.5% from 2022, indicating that consumers were more cautious with their spending last year, despite rising consumer prices.
Spending by live theater and ticketing agents increased by 16.9% compared to last year. Spending at vape shops and massage, health and beauty shops increased 16.5% and 14.1% respectively.
