British American Tobacco recently expressed its support for the UK's smoke-free goals. England plans to be smoke-free (smoking prevalence reduced to 5% or less) by 2030, and Wales and Scotland have similar targets.
British American Tobacco is calling on the government to adopt stricter e-cigarette regulations through newspapers, websites and billboards across the UK. They emphasized the need to reduce the appeal of e-cigarettes to minors and reduce the impact of disposable e-cigarettes on the environment.
Asli Ertonguc, head of British American Tobacco UK, pointed out: “E-cigarettes are key to achieving the UK’s smoke-free goal.” He emphasized that as the largest manufacturer of e-cigarette products in the UK, British American Tobacco is aware of its responsibilities and supports the government’s introduction of stricter e-cigarette regulations. The company recommended banning dessert and soft drink flavored e-cigarette products and refraining from using slogans and images involving inductive marketing such as toys, cartoons and candies.
