The proportion of Swedish smokers drops to 5.2%

Sweden has become Europe's first smoke-free country, thanks to the circulation of a controversial alternative product on its home market.

The Swedish government said that currently 1 in 7 people use moist tobacco pouches called "snus", which are placed under the upper lip. This product has greatly contributed to the reduction in the number of smokers. Last year, the proportion of the smoking population dropped to only 5.2%.
