Recently, according to Dailybusiness news, Romania’s relevant regulations may become more stringent on smokers, and the country’s five million smokers may be hit.
Romanian legislation prohibits smoking in certain places, such as public transport or children's playgrounds. New rules are likely to be introduced in the future to ban smoking in parks, sports grounds or places waiting for public transport, where there are often large numbers of children and the new rules are intended to protect them.
A message from Romania's former Family Affairs Minister Gabriela Firea made it clear that she supports the expansion of no-smoking zones to protect children.
Firea noted in a Facebook message that smoke is very harmful and children should not be exposed to it.
She also pointed to measures already taken by other countries, such as France and Ireland, which have very strict regulations on smokers. In these countries, smoking is prohibited even in your own car if you have children with you.
These measures may seem draconian, but we must make this effort for the health of our children, Firea said.
