Philip Morris International's finished product shipments in Ukraine increased by 8.4% and plans to invest US$30 million in a new factory

According to Interfax news, Philip Morris International (PMI) stated that its finished product shipments to Ukraine will increase by 8.4% in 2023 compared with 2022.

"In 2023, our finished product shipments in Ukraine increased by 8.4%. This figure includes imported and locally produced products. The increase in shipments is part of our strategy to regain market share, due to the war and our operations in Kharkiv Factories in the region were forced to close and we temporarily lost market share," said Serhiy Kalnoochenka, Philip Morris' financial director in Ukraine.

According to the financial report released by the company, in the fourth quarter of 2023, PMI's total shipments of heated tobacco and tobacco products to Ukraine increased by 14.9% compared with the same period in 2022.

In the second quarter of 2024, Philip Morris plans to open a new factory in the Lviv area with an investment of US$30 million. The company pays more than 30 billion UAH in taxes to the Ukrainian budget at all levels.
