New Zealand to scrap rules restricting tobacco sales

The New Zealand government recently stated that it will abolish the rule that people born after 2008 cannot legally purchase tobacco products. Additionally, a program to reduce the number of tobacco retail outlets will be ended.

The rules banning people born after 2008 from legally purchasing tobacco products were enacted by the previous New Zealand government and were originally scheduled to come into effect in 2027. It is reported that the current New Zealand government plans to abolish this regulation before March next year.
