According to a recent report by Morocco World News, Morocco has strengthened its supervision of cigarettes, limiting the tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide content in cigarettes sold in its country, setting upper limits of 10 mg, 1 mg and 10 mg respectively.
This year, the price of a pack of cigarettes in Morocco will increase by 1 to 2 Moroccan dirhams (1 Moroccan dirham is approximately RMB 0.72). The Moroccan tax department stated that it will receive approximately 12.5 billion Moroccan dirhams in tax revenue from the tobacco industry in 2023, an increase of 5.82% compared with 2022, and will further increase tobacco consumption taxes in the future.
