Colombia’s General Administration of Industry and Commerce issued a fine of 1 billion Colombian pesos, accusing e-cigarette companies of not labeling health risks

According to news released by Elpais on December 19, Colombia’s Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (hereinafter referred to as SIC) punished a well-known e-cigarette company for failing to indicate on the packaging the use that may cause harm to minors. Taboo information.

The punished company is called Inversiones Glu Cloud S.A.S., and the SIC imposed a fine of more than 1 billion Colombian pesos (approximately RMB 1.7 million) in its penalty resolution and explained the reasons for the penalty to children, adolescents and young people.

The SIC said the company was punished for failing to disclose on its product packaging, containers and advertisements that it contained ingredients harmful to health, and for failing to inform consumers of the need to read relevant conditions and contraindications before use. Colombia’s Directorate General of Industry and Commerce has issued a warning to children and adolescents about the dangers of e-cigarettes that do not contain labels that may pose risks to their health.

SIC emphasized: “As consumers, young people have the right to use safe and high-quality products. They should receive clear and true information, be protected from false advertising, and have the right to choose freely.”

In Resolution No. 75799 issued in 2023, the SIC requires that Inversiones Glu Cloud S.A.S. must properly handle the rights of affected consumers.
