Brazilian federal police crack down on e-cigarette criminal organizations and seize nearly 3,000 e-cigarettes and a large number of accessories

Recently, the Federal Police of Sao Paulo, Brazil, dispatched 15 search and seizure orders against criminal organizations suspected of importing and selling e-cigarettes, e-cigarette liquids and e-cigarette accessories through online and offline stores in Sao Paulo.

The police seized a total of 2,906 e-cigarettes, 858 e-cigarette liquids, 389 e-cigarette accessories, and 81,400 reais (approximately RMB 120,000) in cash.

During the operation, four suspects were arrested on the spot and will face smuggling charges. A federal court will decide whether to convert the men's arrests into preventive incarceration, a term of imprisonment without a release date.

In 2009, Brazil’s National Health Supervision Agency banned the sale and promotion of e-cigarettes.
